Instrumental in the development of HTML and CSS specifications, SGML Open fragment specification, Digital Libraries Initiative mathematics representation specification, promotion of SGML and XML, and formation of the Web Accessibility Initiative. Speaker, invited speaker, keynote speaker, panelist and session chair at Seybold, WWW, SGML, IEEE, Documation, and 1-ISP conferences.
Coordinated product release of HoTMetaL PRO 2.0, and SoftQuad Panorama PRO 1.5. Developed initial concept for SoftQuad HoTMetaL intranet Publisher (H.i.P.). Managed relationships with third-party technology vendors. Developed "Products" section of prospectus for SoftQuads initial public offering on NASDAQ in 1995.
Managed technical documentation and work with development teams to design and implement publishing systems. Wrote, designed, typeset and produced several award-winning technical manuals. Served as a consultant to R&D teams: as a member of the design team for SoftQuad Publishing Software; providing competitive analysis; resident expert on indexing, cross-referencing and hypertext.
Responsible for managing the development of customized production-publishing systems for the U.S. Department of Defense CALS initiative. Performed project requirements analysis; developed formal specifications for several document types, including SGML DTDs and output format specifications; managed production schedules and coordinated development teams; designed mechanism for conversion of SGML documents to native publishing systems.
Managed the activities of technical staff responsible for hot-line support, training, demo packages for presentations, sales database creation and maintenance, manufacture and distribution of software products, and participation at trade shows.

Member of technical publications and engineering management teams. Responsible for a local staff of technical writers and typesetters, producing a five thousand page set of technical manuals for SCOs UNIX development system. Project management responsibility for writers and typesetters in California and England. Created SCO Canadas Technical Publications department. Incurred negligible recruitment costs over a three year period. Introduced automated production tools and techniques which significantly improved quality, and reduced costs by eliminating manual intervention. Subject matter included C and C++ compilers, graphical debuggers, networking and windowing system libraries, software packaging utilities, and system administration utilities.
Co-produced complete documentation set for an emerging 4GL business software system, including user manuals, technical product description, and the systems technical specification. Delivered product documentation in advance of actual software implementation. Managed companys conversion to laser-printer production of product documentation and coordinated development of a customized document formatting package on the UNIX operating system. Co-produced a procedures manual for use by the technical publications group. Implemented scripted demonstrations for use at trade shows.
Produced documentation for Sentrols distributed process control systems, including users manuals and field engineers reference manual.
Responsible for scheduling and supervision of quality control activities in a start-up printed circuit board manufacturing plant. Co-produced facility design, and supervised initial setup of facility. Designed and implemented a manual-write production scheduling system, and a contract bidding program.
Responsible for production and scheduling of a line of industrial radio and television equipment. Designed a manual-write production scheduling system for line of Studio-Transmitter Links.
Co-produced user manuals for complete line of medical video systems. Produced user manuals for large-scale I.C. micro-video inspection and measurement systems. Coordinated conference activities.
